mirror wills (def.)

Two separate Wills, usually made by a couple, written in substantially the same terms. Typically each person leaves their estate to the other, and then to the same beneficiaries once both have died.

Each Will remains a separate legal document. Either person can change or revoke their own Will at any time, including after the other has died, without the other's agreement. Mirror Wills are not the same as mutual Wills, which involve a binding agreement not to change them and are rarely used.

Mirror wills have a significant number of disadvantages over creating individual wills. We do not offer mirror Wills in adeus. If you want one, we recommend using a solicitor or certified Will writer.
