Discord - detailed instructions

Setting Up Discord for Memorialization

  • Understanding Discord's Policies:
    • Discord does not offer a legacy contact feature or a formal memorialization option.
    • Family members or authorized individuals can request the deletion of a deceased person’s account.

Requesting Account Deletion on Discord

  • Contact Discord Support:
    • To request the deletion of a deceased person’s Discord account, a family member or authorized individual must submit a request through the Discord Help Center.
    • The request can be made via email to Discord's support team at support@discordapp.com.
  • Information Required:
    • The requester will need to provide the following:
      • The deceased person’s Discord username (including the four-digit tag) or associated email address.
      • Proof of death, such as a death certificate.
      • Proof of the requester’s relationship to the deceased (e.g., family relationship document, legal documentation like power of attorney).
  • Process Confirmation:
    • After submitting the necessary documents and information, Discord’s team will review the request. If approved, they will proceed with deleting the account.

Additional Considerations

  • No Memorialization or Legacy Contact:
    • Discord does not offer a memorialization option; the account will be permanently deleted and inaccessible once the process is completed.
  • Privacy and Content:
    • Upon deletion, all chats, servers, and associated content from the account will be permanently removed, ensuring the privacy of the deceased.
  • No Access to Account Content:
    • Discord does not allow access to the deceased person’s messages, servers, or other account content before deletion.
