How to use adeus True Gifts to record and track valuable items

This article provides guidance on how to use `adeus True Gifts to securely track valuable items, or items of importance or sentimental reasons.

How can I use adeus True Gifts to record an item?

adeus True Gifts isn’t just for leaving items to specific people. You can also use it to create a secure, private record of your valuable or sentimental possessions, without naming a recipient at all.

Think of it as a digital inventory: a safe and organised place to document what you own, supported by photos, receipts, valuations, and any other relevant information. Everything is stored securely in your adeus Digital Vault, ready for your Estate to access when the time comes.

Why is this useful?

Many people have items of real value, financial or sentimental, that their family or Estate may not be aware of. Without a clear record, these items can be overlooked, undervalued, or simply lost in the process of administering an estate.

Using True Gifts as an inventory gives you a simple way to:

  • Record high-value items such as jewellery, watches, art, antiques, or collectibles
  • Document sentimental possessions that may not have obvious financial value but matter to your family
  • Store supporting evidence such as photos, receipts, certificates, and valuations alongside each item
  • Help your Executor and Estate identify, locate, and value items accurately
  • Support any Inheritance Tax calculations that may be required

It works in much the same way as an insurance inventory, but held securely within your adeus account rather than in a spreadsheet or paper document that could be lost or misplaced.

What can I record?

You can create a record for any tangible item or asset. There is no limit to the number of items you can add, so you can document as many possessions as you like, from a single prized item to a comprehensive inventory of everything of value that you own.

What does each record include?

When you create an inventory record using True Gifts, you’ll be asked to provide:

  • A description of the item (what it is, where it came from, and any relevant details)
  • Any notes you’d like to add (for example, its history, condition, or location)
  • Supporting files (optional) – photos, receipts, valuations, certificates, or any other documentation you’d like to include

Once created, your record is securely sealed and stored within your adeus Digital Vault. You can return at any time to update a record, add new files, or remove an item if circumstances change.

How do I create an inventory record?

The process is exactly the same as creating a True Gift. It is fully guided, with straightforward questions and easy-to-use buttons walking you through each step. Most people complete a record in just a few minutes.

All records are stored securely in your adeus Digital Vault, where you can review, update, or delete them at any time.

Who can access these records?

Your inventory records are private and can only be accessed by you during your lifetime. When you pass away, they become available to your Estate through the adeus Digital Vault, giving your Executor a clear and accurate picture of your possessions to help administer your estate.

No one else can view or access your records without proper authorisation.

How is my information kept safe?

adeus True Gifts is built on Smart Contract technology. This means that once a record is created, it is secure, private, and tamper-proof. No one can alter or access the contents without the proper authorisation at the right time. True Gifts provides an immutable audit trail, giving you complete confidence that your records are protected and preserved exactly as you left them.
