Ewell Castle School
Message from the School
For many Ewellians, Ewell Castle School has been an important, positive and formative part of their childhood and some feel that in part, they owe some of their professional success to the education, values and opportunities that Ewell Castle School provided. By leaving a gift in your will to Ewell Castle, you are giving something back and helping to provide the building blocks that will help nurture and build better futures for our pupils and for future generations of Ewellians. Through our bursary programme, you can contribute towards assisted places for a Ewell Castle education, for pupils whose families would not otherwise be able to afford one.
We are grateful for all donations to Ewell Castle School as well as legacy gifts and bequests. By leaving a gift in your will to the School, you are helping to provide bursaries for talented and deserving pupils who would otherwise be unable to afford the School fees. Your gift also contributes towards the purchase of a range of equipment and materials that support the learning of all our pupils. Whilst the majority of our legators will let the School decide how best to spend their gift (which in most cases will be on bursaries) you do have the option to specify how you would like your gift to benefit the School, e.g. Academic, Sport, Creative and Performing Arts etc
- Did you know that our School is a charity?
- Did you know you can leave our school even 1% so that those closest to you inherit 99%? You can of course leave more if you want to.
Through our partnership with adeus, we can help protect your legacy, and that of our school.
Ewell Castle School - a registered charity
Ewell Castle School is both an independent school and it is a charity. The School has charitable status and is overseen by a board of governors who are the charity's trustees. Unlike state schools, Ewell Castle does not receive government funding and neither does the School have any financial endowments from former pupils or staff on which to draw funds from. The School therefore relies entirely upon pupil school fees to provide the existing learning provision for pupils, to manage the upkeep of the School buildings and to develop pupil resources, equipment and opportunities for the future.
To leave a bequest or gift in your will to Ewell Castle School, you will need to include the School's full charity name and number in your will, to ensure that your bequest does indeed get to the School.
Ewell Castle School charity name and address: Ewell Castle School, Church Street, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 2AW
Ewell Castle School registered charity number: 312079
Ewell Castle School 1926 Legacy Society
We are launching a Ewell Castle legacy society; so be a trailblazer and become a founding member of the 1926 Legacy Society by making a provision to leave a gift in your will to the School. You will benefit by;
- receiving an annual e-copy of the Ewellian School magazine with a thank you included
- receiving recognition for your gift on the School website
- receiving an invitation to a private tour of the School and lunch with the Principal and Sixth Form Prefects
Types of Gifts You Can Make
The three main types of gifts that you can make are:
RESIDUAL LEGACY is a gift of all (or a percentage of what is left) of the value of your estate after all other gifts have been made.
PECUNIARY LEGACY is a gift of a fixed sum of money that you can index link to preserve its value over time.
GIFT IN KIND is a gift of a specific item of property such as a house, shares or jewellery.
TAX EFFICIENT GIVING
All bequests to charities are tax free in the UK. Ewell Castle School is a charity, so if you make a gift in your will to the School, the value will be deducted from your estate before inheritance tax is calculated, which means that you can support Ewell Castle School and reduce your inheritance tax liability at the same time. We recommend that you consult a solicitor or professional advisor for specialist advice according to your own individual circumstances.
